There are many questions to be answered about the cause of the terrible plane crash in Smolensk. The first assumption that came to everybody’s mind was that the main factor responsible was the state of the 20 year old Tupolev 154M aircraft. The truth of the matter is that the plane underwent a major overhaul and upgrade just 4 months ago. The major factor was the obsolete nature of the equipment installed at the Smolensk airport.
