The official release date of their debut had been anounced at least a couple of times. Finallly, the ‘Ano‘ is here with us. Even though it is officialy promoted with a different single, we decided to remind you of BiFF’s song that they became famous with a couple of months ago.
They are one of very few reasons not to let you feel overly ashamed with the fact you watched The Festival of Polish Song in Opole. The festival which most of us, Poles, have considered to be a total mistake for quite a few years, to put it mildly.
It was 2008 when their ‘Ślązak (The Silesian)‘ song refreshed the Opole repertoire. A lot of things changed since then for the Silesian band advertised with the faces of Anna Brachaczek and Hrabia Fochmann who both come from another famous Polish band Pogodno, known for their insane and frantic live shows and pun-larded lyrics. This fun with words, onomatopeic trips and melodiousness is decidedly something Ania and Hrabia transplanted successfully into their new project.
I realize that in terms of words this is a kind of fun mostly for the advanced learners of Polish, but even if you are not fully able to follow the song’s narration, it is still a great pleasure to your ears. Aided by Jarek Kozłowski, Michał Pfeiff and Marcin Zabrocki who are said to be ‘the best rhythm section’ in Poland, BiFF play unbearably light songs which made me walk down the Wrocław streets with an idiotic smile on my face. And ‘Ślązak’ is just one of them.
Oh, bugger the looming gloomy autumn evenings! There is BiFF!

Vintage as a philosophy
They are fascinated by the past, but look into the future as well. Maja Kokot and Paulina Szczepańska are two women that brought vintage style in fashion to Poland. They did it simply by starting out with their own store on the internet. Clothes there are sometimes even 40 years-old. The interview with Paulina Szczepańska. By Przemek Pozowski

Today we treated you to some of LUC’s music. He was also the guest at our Breaking Muse program. But this is not the end of our chitchats with the Wrocławski Sound Festival’s artists on Radio Wroclove.com.
Another proof for northern Europe pop hegemony. As I’m getting really bored with the avalanche of catchy tunes from Sweden, I’m glad to introduce to you a debutant from the country that I’ve been associating only with mobile phones and tough winters. Yes, he’s from Finland.
Baxter has been recording since 2004, staying in the underground and being revelation only for a few bloggers and some of his good friends, maybe. This year, he released an EP titled ‘Proof‘ and there’s no sign of anything to be changed in terms of his popularity. That’s a pity, because it’s an undeniably nice set of songs. ‘
Proof‘ derives elegance from Junior Boys, dreamy atmosphere from italo-disco hits and sexuality from Prince albums. It’s evolving slowly, building tension and introducing successive melodies. Let’s hope it is just a prediction of the forthcoming Finnish invasion.

Even if competition in Sweden is extremely tight, ‘Time‘ is getting our nomination to ‘The Best Pop Song of the Year’ award.
O’Spada is definitely a sensation of this year’s pop scene. They’ve only released one song but you can already have high hopes of them. “Time” is nothing less but a dance floor banger, referring to The Jacksons 5, Prince or Jamiroquai even.
It might remind you also of a wonderful Tigercity debut EP. Using live instruments, O’Spada is not only a perfect pop single but also a successor of a great funky tradition. It’s a bass line and guitar motif which make this song so groovy and keys that emphasize its club character.
“Time” wouldn’t be so outstanding without Julia Spada - a singer and the main composer. Her voice can be compared to Roisin Murphy’s, however she’s using it more in a way of black music artists. Delicious melting-pot for every dance floor.

We intently follow everything that is happening around Kamp! - the Wrocław-Łodź electronic trio. Michał, Radek and Tomek – the band’s founders, have been in the limelight for nearly a year now with many successful and well-received performances at the biggest festivals (Nowa Muzyka, Audioriver, Opener) as well as club acts around Poland.
They have recorded only one EP so far (’Thales One‘), but they really seem to be a promising prospect as a long-lasting band with a debut album anticipated at the beginning of next year.
In the meantime we can enjoy new music from AXMusique – an electro-minimal house project recording for their Brennnessel net label. EP titled ‘AXMusique’ can be downloaded for free at http://www.brennnessel.pl/

There has been more than enough of commotion about the King of Pop’s untimely death. It is ironic, but not too much surprising, this is only now, after he has passed away, that his Polish fans have a chance to purchase most of Jackson’s back catalogue.
And it all looks this is not the end of new Michael’s ‘The Best Ofs‘. Sony Music have announced ‘This Is It‘ will be released on October 12, and will be followed by a new double CD compilation. No information was given about what period of the artist’s career the song comes from. We are likely, though, to hear all of his brothers providing backing vocals in this piece.
