Camera Obscura in Wrocław (09.10.09)
Camera Obscura, a Scottish indie pop band who released their brand new “My Maudin Career” album earlier this year under 4AD label are coming to Wrocław for their only gig in our country.
Camera Obscura have been present on music stage since 1996. The outfit hailing straight from Glasgow was established by Tracyanne Campbell, John Henderson and Gavin Dunbar. Initially they cooperated regularly with other famous and established Glaswegians – Belle & Sebastian. The guy who they owe a lot, though was no one else but the late BBC radio icon, John Peel. It was after listening to their debut set, „Biggest Bluest Hi-Fi”, when Peel included them on the list of the most promising British acts for 2002.
The band are very gifted at composing multi-layered, classical and catchy tunes that are really highly contagious. You can check it either by visiting Firlej Club on the 9th of October or simply listen to their latest single “Honey Is the Sun” which not by chance has become one of our weekly music picks.
