Lower Silesia has a new old flag
“A black eagle on a gold background, a silver ribbon across the eagle’s chest, a silver cross in the middle” is the official description of the recently accepted flag and emblem of the region of Lower Silesia. In fact, after a ten-year-long bickering, the local politicians have just decided to adopt the mediaeval Silesian symbol of the two Henryks – The Bearded and The Pious – as the safest option for the voivodship’s flag. Is it nice? Is it heraldically correct?
